It’s time for the Spring closet cleanout!

Spring is finally here, so it's time to freshen up your wardrobe and clean out your closet. It's the perfect time to get rid of old clothes, organize your space, and make room for new pieces that reflect your style and personality. Here are some tips on how to clean out your clothing closet for spring.

Start by decluttering

The first step in cleaning out your closet is to declutter. Go through each item of clothing and ask yourself: have you worn it in the last year, does it fit and is it in good condition? If you said no to any of these questions, it’s time for that item to go. Create piles of things to donate, sell, or throw away. This will make organizing your closet much more manageable.

Take inventory of your wardrobe

After decluttering, take inventory of your wardrobe. Assess what items you have, what you need, and what you want. Make a list of pieces you're missing or want to add to your wardrobe. This will help you make smarter shopping choices and prevent you from buying items you don't need.

Organize your clothing by category

Once you've decluttered and taken inventory, organize your clothing by category. Group your tops, bottoms, dresses, and outerwear together.  For an added touch arrange it in rainbow order. This will make it easier to find what you need and help you create outfits more efficiently.

Invest in the right product

  1. Invest in storage solutions that work for your space and needs. Choose one hanger style to give your closet a cohesive look and opt for slim hangers that will provide more room.  When selecting bins or baskets, the same rule applies - utilize all one color for a put-together look.

Rotate seasonal items

Spring is the perfect time to rotate your seasonal items. Pack away winter clothes and bring out your spring and summer wardrobe. This will make your closet feel more spacious and help you create appropriate outfits for the season.  If storing off-season clothes in a basement or garage, use air-tight bins to protect your items.

Maintain your closet

Finally, maintain your closet. Set aside time each week to organize and declutter. Keep a donation bag in your closet to make it easy to get rid of items you no longer need.

Cleaning out your closet for spring can be a daunting task, but it's also a rewarding one. By following these tips, you can create a space that reflects your style, makes getting dressed easier, and helps you maintain a clutter-free home.
